Dona Paula Los Cardos Sauvignon Blanc 2017
|Region||Argentina, Uco Valley|
The entry-level 2017 Los Cardos Sauvignon Blanc mixes grapes from Tupungato and Ugarteche, looking for deeper and cooler soils to obtain a fresh and balanced wine. The grapes were harvested early in the day to avoid oxidation and then were put through a cold soak and fermented with selected yeasts. It was bottled unoaked and without malolactic. Doña Paula is one of the largest producers of Sauvignon Blanc from Argentina, where the challenge is to protect the grapes from the heat, so this always has some more tropical notes but keeps the citrus profile. It has a slightly reductive profile, but it's very varietal and has a refreshing, light palate and some mineral hints in the texture. Superb value. 420,000 bottles produced. Bottling started in June 2017, under screwcap, and continues as they receive orders.
