Doug Margerum is capturing the freshness of Rhône varieties like few others in California, as evidenced in this twist-top blend of 44% Grenache, 37% Syrah, 11% Mourvèdre, 4% Counoise and 4% Cinsaut. Aromas of zesty rosewater, raspberry and a hint of smoke lead into a palate that's zippy with joyous flavors of red fruit, sumac and white pepper.
A blend of 44% Grenache, 37% Syrah, 11% Mourvèdre, 4% Counoise and 4% Cinsaut, the 2017 M5 is pale to medium ruby-purple with warm blueberries, violet and a hint of herbs in the background plus turned earth, tar and black fruits. Light to medium-bodied, it features earthy dark fruits in the mouth with soft texture and juicy acidity on the finish.
