Cragganmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky 10 year old
|Category||Single Malt Scotch|
|Region||United Kingdom, Scotland, Speyside|
Bright pale amber. Medium to full, big, rounded. Somewhat closed to start; mild for its age and strength. Traces of coffee, cooking chocolate, All-Bran and saddle leather. Winey notes after a while (Madeira?). With water smoky, then fragrant wood notes (sandalwood?) and nuts (hazelnuts?). Herbal and spicy (bay leaves, white peppercorns, nutmeg). Despite all these allusions, elusive; restrained and complex. Attractive sweetness in front, balanced by some fruity acidity. Develops into old coffee grounds and digestive biscuits. Spiciness opens up, arousing the appetite without quite revealing its inner feelings. Drying, even to light bitterness. Lingering nutty flavour. Long, allusive (again), urbane, bittersweet.
