J. Christopher Volcanique Pinot Noir 2016
|Region||United States, Oregon|
One of a series of wines named for their soils, this shows a gravelly, grainy foundation, with sleek cranberry-raspberry fruit above. The herbal components are kept in check but are definitely in the mix, along with tannins that show flavors of stem and bark. With ample aeration the fruit explodes into lovely cherry.
Graceful and supple, with nuanced raspberry and orange peel flavors, accented by stony minerality on the lingering finish. Drink now through 2026. 1,742 cases made.
Vivid red. Displays pungent red berry, cherry and floral qualities on the spice-accented nose, with a zesty mineral nuance adding lift. Offers sappy red and dark berry flavors that show gentle sweetness, good depth and energy. Supple and gently tannic on the nicely persistent finish, which features a lingering cherry quality.
