The Maschitano Rosso is a real show stopper! An intense nose of roasted plum, thyme, cherry liqueur and violet leads to pure finesse and elegance on the palate. Confident and rustic tannins add bite, whilst fresh, reviving acidity balance this wine. This wine is deep and complex, unveiling new layers of flavour over time in the glass and has a long finish, built around flavours of leathery spiced cherry and savoury oregano.

Elisabetta & Luigi Musto Carmelitano are brother and sister and the current guardians of this small but passionate estate in the south of Italy. They have full dedication to mastering one single varietal - Aglianico. Their wines are an honest, pure expression of what top-notch Aglianico can be - beautiful, elegant and balanced, yet powerful and rustic. They use organic methods to complement Basilicata’s unique volcanic soils. For a grape that can have such power and structure, their wines have tremendous grace and finesse as well as a refreshing underlying minerality from the volcanic soils.

The family farms three separate organic vineyards, each located on the southern slopes of Monte Vulture and home to old vines with these sky-reaching elevations of 2,000 feet above sea level. With the mission to make an unadulterated expression of Aglianico, the family’s wines unveil the true soul of one of Italy’s most noble and loved grapes.
