Georges Duboeuf Fleurie Domaine des Quatre Vents 2016
|Region||France, Beaujolais, Fleurie|
Wine EnthusiastThis is a firm, structured wine produced at one of the many estates of Duboeuf. Rich black-cherry fruit contrasts with the dry core of the wine. Ripe and juicy, it will be ready to drink from mid-2018.
Wine SpectatorTangy acidity drives the cherry, wild raspberry and underbrush aromas of this light-bodied, fresh Gamay, with white pepper, mineral and grilled herb details creating a savory undertone. Grippy tannins add texture to the finish. Drink now through 2020. 1,800 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Fleurie Domaine des Quatre Vents (not to be confused with their Fleurie Clos des Quatre Vent), has been farmed by Dubouef for over fifty years and includes 20% of the crop aged in one and two-year-old oak barrels. It has an intriguing bouquet with smoke-tinged black fruit, well defined and quite elegant in style. The palate is well balanced with crisp tannin, tart red berry fruit laced with a touch of sour lemon, a little short on the finish but it retains satisfying freshness throughout.
