This wine displays a shimmering garnet color. Its nose is redolent in aromas of cherry, stone and black fruits, predominantly blueberry, with hints of kirsch and peppery notes, all of which carry through to the taste. Full-bodied, rich and heady, the wine has a solid tannic backbone signifying good aging potential. Food Pairings: Pairs well with red meats, Coq Au Vin, grilled or oven roasted wild boar and distinctive cheeses. Ideal serving temperature is 54F.

Wine EnthusiastThis cru estate is owned by the Duboeuf family. The wine has some wood aging that adds to the rich texture while not detracting from the ripe juicy red-cherry fruit. With its tannins, the wine could age, so drink from late 2017.

Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Julienas Chateau des Capitans, of which around 10% is aged in oak, has an opulent black cherry and kirsch-scented bouquet that is lively and generous. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe red plum and strawberry fruit, nicely balanced with a rounded, caressing finish that has just the right amount of edginess. This comes recommended - delicious.
