The 2014 Siduri Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is our first vintage that includes fruit from the Yamhill-Carlton and Eola-Amity AVAs in addition to our "normal" fruit from the Chehalem Mountains Appellation. The fruit from these areas produces darker fruited, more concentrated wines with more backbone and tannins than what we get from the Chehalem Mountains. The wines from the Laurelwood soil in the Chehalem Mountains tend to be red fruited, more perfumed, and possess a greater sense of delicacy. The combination of these sources has made the most complete and complex Willamette Valley Pinot Noir that Siduri has ever produced. It is a wine that shows the character of the full Willamette Valley, with darker berry and currant flavors, along with hints of cherry joined by earth, dried brush, and even tobacco flavors. The finish lingers on the slightly tannic, yet expressive finish. This backbone promises that the wine will only improve with time in the bottle.

VinousLight, bright red. Spice-laced aromas of fresh strawberry and redcurrant, with a hint of white pepper emerging with air. Taut, linear and nervy on the palate, offering bitter cherry and red berry skin flavors and a touch of black tea. Closes with repeating spiciness, good energy and very soft tannins. This would be delicious with a light chill, à la Beaujolais.

Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley comes from four vineyards in the Chehalem Mountains and Zena Crown in Eola-Amity. Matured in 22% new oak, it has a very pure red cherry and cassis-scented bouquet with a touch of violet coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, plush tannin. There is a rounded texture here, the 10% whole cluster lending a little frisson towards the lightly spiced finish. This could have been a more impactful Pinot Noir, but I think winemaker Adam Lee's more prudent approach makes for a better wine. Great value to boot.

Wine SpectatorBright and tangy, with a refreshing lilt of acidity to the tightly wound cherry, pomegranate and white pepper flavors. Best after 2016. 10,699 cases made.

Wine EnthusiastThis is a round and fruity wine, offering pretty flavors of cherry and hints of darker berries. There are notes of earth and anise also, and just a twinge of plastic lingering in the aftertaste.
