Priest Ranch Coach Gun 2013

Priest Ranch Coach Gun 2013

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Our 2013 Coach Gun was handpicked, sorted and fermented naturally, then aged for 28 month in 50% new French oak barrels. The blend was refined over the course of the first year of aging and the final blend was determined just months before bottling. The 2013 vintage was a classic, near perfect growing season with warm days and cool nights. The mild summer and warm weather after verasion caused the fruit to develop with good balance, great flavors, bright acidity and mature, well developed tannins.

Wine AdvocateThe big, rich 2013 Coach Gun Proprietary Red is a blend of Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. There's actually a whopping 30% Cabernet Franc in it, the biggest component part of the wine. This is a beauty. Sweet licorice, black and red currants, camphor and a touch of charcoal jump from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored wine. Medium to full-bodied, it exhibits complex elements in both its aromatics and flavor profile. It is full-bodied, rich, layered and ideal for drinking over the next 10-15 years. I was somewhat surprised at its level of alcohol (15.6%), which is beautifully disguised behind the lavish fruit.

Wine EnthusiastThis big-boy red combines 30% Cabernet Franc with 20% each of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, adding 15% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot for an all-five red-Bordeaux-varietal blend. Coconut flakes and vanilla-hugged oak ride sticky tannins to a quick finish, offering huge ripeness along the way.
