The 2016 Pinot Noir Ashley's Vineyard is one of my favorites, wafting from the glass with aromas of wood smoke, earth, berries and aromatic bark. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich and supple, with a layered mid-palate, fine-grained tannins and a generous but balanced profile. Enjoy it over the next five to six years.
Lush spice accents frame the concentrated raspberry tart, dark cherry and pastry flavors. The finish lingers with creamy richness, featuring overtones of dark chocolate. Drink now through 2022. 1,191 cases made.
Smoke plays a large role in this wine, starting with the oak and hickory aromas that decorate the sour cherry elements of the nose. Baked cherry shows on the sip before the smoky aspects take hold, which are pleasing and would make a great pairing for a barbecue.
