Fess Parker Ashley's Pinot Noir 2014
|Region||California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills|
Wine AdvocateFess Parker's 2014 Pinot Noir Ashley's Vineyard, which is all from the Rancho Las Hermanas Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, is a fruit-forward, charming beauty that has tons of black raspberry, smoked herbs and underbrush notes in its medium-bodied, plump, balanced, yet mouth-filling style. Seeing 20% whole clusters and 18 months in 46% new French oak, it's an outstanding Pinot Noir to drink over the coming 4-5 years. Drink Date: 2016-2021.
Wine EnthusiastOn the nose, this bottling from one of the family's estate vineyards seems dark with boysenberry and purple flower touches and tangy with hints of plum skin and red currant. The palate is deceptively full bodied but also surprisingly tangy, delivering sour cranberry and eucalyptus flavors.
Wine SpectatorFresh and lively, made in a style that is best enjoyed now. The flavors are focused on cherry, rhubarb and fresh earth, but the finish strays out of focus. Drink now. 1,453 cases made.
