Margerum Barden Pinot Noir 2014

Margerum Barden Pinot Noir 2014

SKU 50024

Color: Light, with a silky Bing cherry red and an array of hues in the robe. Aroma: A myriad of red fruit aromas of cherries, raspberries and strawberries complemented with subtle wood additions of vanilla, toast and briar patch. Palate: Full bodied mouth coating and rich. Deft tannins balanced with nice acidity and dried fruits and not so sweet red fruit preserves. Peak Drinking: Now - but best with 5 to seven years of bottle age from vintage.

Wine EnthusiastRed cherry, caramelized black cherry, roasted pork and wet slate show on the rich, smoky nose of this bottling by Doug Margerum. Tight pomegranate, strawberry and hibiscus touches appear once sipped, and the palate packs lots of earthy flavors. It's acid-rich and dynamically layered, so drink from 2018-2024.

Wine AdvocateSappy, and borderline tart, with light cherry, passion fruit and sappy flower aromas and flavors, the 2014 Pinot Noir Barden is medium to light-bodied, with bright acidity, a lean texture and racy acidity on the finish. From a mix of vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills and aged ten months in 50% new French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered, drink it over the coming 4-6 years. At the price, I want more depth and length.
