Wine EnthusiastRed cherry, caramelized black cherry, roasted pork and wet slate show on the rich, smoky nose of this bottling by Doug Margerum. Tight pomegranate, strawberry and hibiscus touches appear once sipped, and the palate packs lots of earthy flavors. It's acid-rich and dynamically layered, so drink from 2018-2024.
Wine AdvocateSappy, and borderline tart, with light cherry, passion fruit and sappy flower aromas and flavors, the 2014 Pinot Noir Barden is medium to light-bodied, with bright acidity, a lean texture and racy acidity on the finish. From a mix of vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills and aged ten months in 50% new French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered, drink it over the coming 4-6 years. At the price, I want more depth and length.
