When making Chardonnay like this, there is no room for error, not in the vineyard, not in the winery. Everything shows. And thats exactly how we want it. Expressive. Pure.
This wine opens with rocky minerality and a focused bright fruit. The two together are rare, awesome and alluring. It's mouthwatering and serious with an electric vein of minerality running deeply through the wine and into the long, lip-smacking finish. Then there is the structure, a slight grip throughout that lends tension, extends the wine and pulls the canvas tight. Its all together. Lovely, yet serious.
The Teresas Chardonnay comes from a small band of sandy soil that borders the western end of the vineyard surrounding the winery. Its a continuous block planted with Robert Young clone Chardonnay that produce a distinct and lifted wine every year. Its one of those special small places we cherish.
Balletto Vineyards makes all of its wine from sustainably- farmed estate vineyards located throughout the cool southern third of the Russian River Valley. It is one of the few Russian River wineries to be 100 percent estate grown and estate bottled, and specializes in vineyard-designated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which are consistently elegant, balanced and delicious.
Teresas Unoaked Chardonnay Winemaking Philosophy: When Chardonnay is loaded whole cluster into a press and gently squeezed, the resulting juice is one of the most delicious things ever. Its tart, aromatic and decadent. Our ambition is to capture this essence of Chardonnay. Pure, crisp and pretty. We initiate a cool, slow fermentation to maintain aromatics and take the wine to dryness to maintain crispness. To coax out the minerality, were harvesting early and maintaining just enough phenolic structure to lift and show the minerality.
Wine EnthusiastA crowd-pleasing quaffer of a wine, this is tart, with a fresh-squeezed lemon palate that also offers anise, caramel apple and pear. Crisp and dry, it indeed sees no oak-it's pure, with a lasting finish.
