DiamAndes Grande Reserve 2014
|Region||Argentina, Uco Valley|
Wine EnthusiastWhile this blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon is hot and heady on the nose, aromas of asphalt, black fruits and raisin make their case. A full-bodied palate holds dry spicy flavors of black fruits and oak, while captivating spice flavors, a recurring theme in this blend, lead a dry, direct finish. Drink through 2028.
Wine SpectatorCreamy richness accents the well-spiced flavors of plum compote, cherry tart and dark currant, supported by bright acidity. The lip-smacking finish offers dark chocolate and Asian spice details. Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2025. 2,500 cases made, 600 cases imported.
Wine AdvocateThe top of the range in red, the 2014 DiamAndes de Uco Grande Reserve is a blend of Malbec with 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. It fermented in French barriques with indigenous yeasts for 25 days, then was pressed and put back in barrel for malolactic and 18 months of aging in 50% new barrels. It's a bit of a stereotypical ripe and oaky Malbec blend, with plenty of spices, toast and smoke and a palate dominated by oak flavors and grainy tannins. For fans of oaky reds. 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2017.
