The 2018 Conjurer was aged for 11 months in 25% new French oak. and has dark, brooding aromas of plums and Christmas spices, along with an herbal lift on the back end. The wine is richly textured, with an incredibly plush, soft entry that leads to an explosion of flavors on the palate. The palate is dominated by plums, black cherries, and earthy, savory elements like olives, which all lead to a beautifully long finish. The acid profile is tucked away behind the core of gorgeous fruit. Enjoy this beauty (with friends, of course) for the next 12-15 years.

A vibrant red, sleek and multilayered, revealing bright cherry, orange zest and dusky spice accents that build richness on the polished finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2028. 2,000 cases made.

Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) takes the lead on this wine, followed by Cabernet Franc (35%), Merlot (24%) and Petit Verdot (1%). The aromas are brooding, with notes of steeped Earl Gray tea, whole green pepper, tobacco leaf and cedar. Plump cherry flavors follow, tightly coiled at first, then unfurling over time. The balance is lovely. It drinks beautifully now but will only get better with some time in the cellar.

Bright dark red. Musky scents of redcurrant, tobacco leaf and dried flowers. Firmer and fresher on entry than the Spellbinder but also quite fine-grained, with its lively red and darker berry flavors showing good definition and underlying spine. Savory, firm, dry and persistent on the aftertaste. A step up in structure and intensity from the Spellbinder, holding more in reserve. This youthful wine offers very good value. (just 25% new oak; unlike the Spellbinder, this was made entirely from free-run juice)

Slightly more expensive, the 2018 Conjurer Red Blend checks in as 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 24% Merlot, and a splash of Petit Verdot. It offers more cassis, graphite, and cedar notes as well as a kiss of earthy minerality. Medium-bodied, elegant, and beautifully polished, it shows the more classic, straight style of the estate, is impeccably balanced, and is just a terrific Bordeaux blend to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years.

Made from free-run juice meant for the Archimage and Illusionist bottlings, the 2018 The Conjurer is composed of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 24% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. The nose is lively and expressive with delicate baking spices, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg with succulent fruit tones of dark cherry, plum and blackberry before showing a hint of dried herbs and spice. Medium to full-bodied, the wine offers pleasure with a balanced frame, lifting tannins and energetic acidity. It ends with subtle flavors of mocha, vanilla bean and spiced plum on the lingering finish. The wine spent 11 months in French oak barrels, 25% first fill. 24,000 bottles produced. Give it a try-it's Doogie Howser approved.
