Cascina Bongiovanni Barolo 2006

Cascina Bongiovanni Barolo 2006

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Crimson with garnet hues in color, the bouquet is extremely complex; in youth, it shows delicate fruity notes like raspberry and strawberry, as well as mint; in time, the nose evolves and acquires spicy nuances as well as hints of tobacco, goudron and roses confirmed on the full, luscious, velvet-textured palate. A modern-style Barolo whose ideal balance of components and soft, approachable dimension are particularly suited to the international market and the restaurant trade.

Wine SpectatorPure cherry and rose aromas and flavors mark this fruit-driven Barolo. Despite its forward appeal, dense tannins lurk underneath. Turns chewier, with spice, tobacco and mineral on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2030.

Wine AdvocateCrushed flowers, raspberries, roses, tar and licorice are some of the notes that emerge from the 2006 Barolo. Deceptively medium in body, the wine nevertheless presents a gorgeous contrast of intensity and weightlessness that among red varieties is possible only with Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo. This is a delicate, understated Barolo that impresses for its classiness and sheer elegance. In 2006 proprietor David Mozzone opted not to bottle his single-vineyard Barolo Pernanno and used the best fruit to strengthen the normal bottling, a decision that has turned out to be right on the money. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.
