Frei Brothers Reserve Merlot 2016
|Region||California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley|
Lots of brambly notes and dried cherry flavors in this open-textured style. Flinty accents emerge on the structured finish. Drink now. 16,500 cases made.
The 2016 Merlot was aged for 8 months in 20% new French and American oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it gives up warm plums, baked cherries and mulberry notes with touches of cloves and anise. The palate is medium to full-bodied with round, plush tannins and plenty of juicy fruit, finishing peppery. 16,500 cases produced.
