The phenomenal 2013 growing season has yielded one of our finest Sig- nature Cabernets in memory. Both charming and complex, this is a wine that strikes a deft balance between elegance and power. The nose reveals layers of black cherry, cassis, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and oak- inspired notes of cedar and spice. On the palate, fine-grained tannins underscore a classic Cabernet structure, as well as alluring blackberry and wild berry flavors that resonate through to a long, lingering finish.

Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature from Chappellet, a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot, is a stunner. Moreover, it's a pretty realistic value for a top-notch Cabernet from California. Of course, it's a great vintage and they've nailed it. Deep ruby/purple color, notes of blueberry, blackberry, with cassis, camphor and spring flowers, the wine is full-bodied, powerful (14.8% natural alcohol), layered with supple tannins and a long, long finish. This wine can be drunk now, or cellared for 25 or more years.

VinousThe 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature is bright, focused and nuanced throughout. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red berries, pomegranate and cinnamon are some of the aromas and flavor that flesh out in the glass. Striking in its aromatics, with pliant, open-knit fruit and fabulous balance, the 2013 offers outstanding quality and even better value. The addition of Malbec and Merlot in the blend softens some of the contours. Polished and refined, the 2013 Signature is one of the best wines readers will find for the money...94" Antonio Galloni, Vinous 10/15

Wine EnthusiastThis lovely wine offers classic elements of cedar and tar built around a medium-bodied weight of soft, complex texture. Smoky oak never detracts from the layering of black licorice and blackberry that builds as it goes, this wine defined most by its substantial length.

Wine SpectatorA deliberate style, with a tight beam of juicy currant and wild berry, showing shades of licorice, dusty herb and cedary oak. Ends with gravelly tannins. Needs time. Best from 2018 through 2028. 8,000 cases made.
