William Hill Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
Wine SpectatorInviting and complex, featuring a firm mix of red and dark berry flavors and subtle earthy, gravelly notes, ending with tight, well-defined tannins. Best from 2019 through 2029. 17,455 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is nearly 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with a bit of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 19 months in both French and American oak (27% new French and 10% new American). A relatively good-sized cuvée of 15,700 cases, the wine is narrowly constructed compared to the proprietary red blend. It has an opaque purple color and hits the palate with much more fruit than the somewhat more restrained and reticent aromatics suggest. The tannins are relatively supple and the wine dense, medium to full-bodied, but needing time to open up and develop additional nuances. Drink now-2028.
Wine EnthusiastThis big, ripe wine is soft and round, with integrated tannins. It evokes licorice, blackberry jam and toast on the palate, with mountain sage and molasses notes that linger on the finish.
