Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico Riserva 2010

SKU 25405

Intense, deep ruby red color with subtle glimmers of garnet. The wine shows a splendid, full nose with hints of blackberries and pleasant notes of tobacco and spice. In the mouth, the wine is soft with an elegant, fresh finish and a persistent, generous acidity in the aftertaste. Full of mature tannins and fruitiness.

Wine EnthusiastMade with Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo, Colorino and Ciliegiolo, this boasts an alluring aroma of red berry, fragrant iris, anise, underbrush and a balsamic note. The bright palate offers ripe black cherry, menthol, baking spice, grilled herb and a tobacco note. It's nicely balanced, with ripe tannins and freshness. Drink through 2020.

Wine AdvocateMild baking spice and sweet vanilla open the nose of the 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva. The oak signature is evident but well managed and this wine promises to integrate with further bottle evolution. I did find the tannins to be especially young with pinpoint touches of astringency that will require more time before they soften. The blend is 90% Sangiovese with smaller parts Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo and Colorino, aged in French and Austrian oak.
