Tasting Notes Deep, ruby-red in color, this Chianti Classico offers aromas of ripe cherries and red plums, with subtle notes of toasted vanilla beans and purple flowers. On the palate, the wine displays a superbly structured character with bright acidity and a pleasantly savory finish. Food Pairing Pair this wine with grilled steak tips and ratatouille.

Wine AdvocateHere is an easy-drinking wine from Castello di Bossi. The 2012 Chianti Classico exhibits a thin style with a few points of sharpness and thorniness. The bouquet offers moderate intensity with wild berry, forest bramble, cranberry and white cherry. This wine does not deliver the roundness nor the intensity of past vintages. Castello di Bossi is a flagship producer from the Castelnuovo Berardenga sub zone in the southern part of the appellation. To my mind, Marco Bacci's wines offer one of the most authentic representations of this special growing area. The climate is a bit warmer here and the soils a bit thicker. Consequently, Castello di Bossi makes wines that are on the far side of the Chianti Classico spectrum in terms of power, intensity and concentration. The wines from the 2011 vintage show especially broad shoulders thanks to the warm summer season.

Wine EnthusiastAromas of toasted oak, plum, menthol and crushed violet open on the nose. The palate offers dried black cherry, licorice, leather, chopped sage and espresso alongside firm, fine-grained tannins. Drink sooner rather than later.
