Baron de Luze Bordeaux 2014
After fermentation at the estate, followed by a long vatting period, the wines are aged in oak for eight to nine months. We always choose "light-to-medium" toasted barrels. During this ageing period, the wine's development in each barrel is monitored by regular tastings. The last stage consists of selecting the barrels for the final blend and bottling the wine. Baron de Luze is a brilliant, intense, ruby-red colour with purplish highlights. The elegant initial bouquet opens up after swirling in the glass to reveal fine fruit and aniseed overtones. The wine starts out very cleanly on the palate, evolving into a well-balanced mid-palate with ripe fruit and soft tannins. The pleasant, toasty aroma contributed by the oak is indicative of high-quality barrels. The tannins are still young and promise good ageing potential. Red-berry fruit flavours carry through discreetly into the well-balanced aftertaste, giving a satisfying overall impression.
